Although adult ants come in many sizes and shapes, they are all of the same species. However, each one will be one among three different colony castings: queens, workers, or males. Queens are the most fertile females and lay all the eggs for a colony. Workers are wingless females with no wings that gather food, feed larvae, and defend the colony. Male ants are winged, and their only task is to mate during the swarming process.

Bed bugs have oval-shaped bodies that are small and flat. They lack wings. Adults have the vestiges or wings known as wing pads. However, they are not yet functional wings. Adults are brown in appearance, although they become reddish after being fed. Bed bugs grown to full size move very slowly and can reach a length of 4 to 5mm. Bed bugs can sometimes be difficult to see with the naked eye.

Black Widow Spiders are venomous house spiders. They are bulbous and are a shiny black color with a red hourglass on their abdomen. They can also be recognized by the chaotic web that they build.

The box elder bug is a unique pest because of its unusual appearance. It has six legs and two antennae. Although they grow to about one-inch in length, including antennae, they can pose a serious problem. Their reddish-orange markings, and red eyes are what make them most easily identifiable. It can be colored from gray to black on the main body, but it is unique when you add the reddish orange and red eyes.

Brown Recluse Spiders are necrotic venom house spiders. They have violin-shaped markings on their dorsum. They typically grow to anywhere from 6 to 20mm in size but can also grow larger!

Centipedes are elongated with flat, segmented bodies. Each segment has a pair of legs. They can be found to have many different colors, but most are brown or reddish orange.

Depending on the species, moths can vary in size and appearance. Some are huge while others are small. They have two pairs of wings and they are usually covered in scales. They also have a coiled proboscis and large compound eyes. Some moth species are bright with metallic colors, while others are duller in browns and grey. Indoor infesting moths are usually smaller than 2 cm in wingspan and are often shades of grey, brown to reddish-brown.

The most common cockroach in Texas is the German cockroach. German cockroaches measure 1/2 to 5/8 inches in length and have two dark stripes on their back. They are nocturnal and will come out at night to check out what you have left for them. They are most common in bathrooms and kitchens, but they can also be found in other rooms. They hide behind electrical outlet plates and in electrical devices such as microwaves, refrigerators, and dishwashers. German Cockroaches can travel on other objects and infest your home or business. German cockroaches can be found in products such as refrigerators, dressers, and couches. German cockroaches can easily be introduced to commercial properties such as grocery stores and restaurants by receiving goods from warehouses or distributors. Before bringing any items inside, it is important to inspect and intercept them. It won’t take long for German cockroaches, if you bring infested items inside.

These pests are characterized by large hind legs that jump and long antennae that are about half the length of their heads and abdomens.

There are over 20 species of earwigs within the United States. Some species produce an unpleasant-smelling liquid that they use as a defense. Earwigs also produce their own pheromone (scent). Scientists believe that this scent is responsible for the large number of earwigs that cluster together. People believe that earwigs enter their ears while they sleep. This is a myth without any scientific foundation. Many people fear earwigs for the pincers they have on the back of the abdomen. These pincers serve two purposes: to protect themselves and to spar with rival earwigs.

Fleas are small and wingless, measuring approximately 2.5 mm in length. Their bodies are shiny and reddish-brown in color and covered with microscopic hairs. They are compressed to allow for easy movement within animal fur. Although they don’t have wings, fleas can jump long distances.

An Indian meal moth can be considered a pantry pest. They are a common pest to food preparation and storage areas. Adult Indian meal moths come in oval-shaped bodies with uniquely colored wings. The wing portion at the front is brown or creamy-colored. The back half of its wing is darker and more bronze. They are active at night and fly in a zigzag-like pattern. Indian meal moth larvae average about 1/2 inches in length. They have a brown-colored head with a wormlike body. It can range in color from pink, yellow, and green. This pantry pest is distinguished because of the silken webbing they create on food surfaces.

Uninvited rodents can be a nuisance in your home. Most people are afraid to encounter these furry creatures. They are also disturbed when they find their droppings in their homes. Fear and disgust are only two of the many concerns that rodent infestations can cause. Rodents can infest your home and cause serious damage to your property and family.

Millipedes are 1-1/2 inches in length, oval-shaped, with many legs. They coil up when they’re dead or resting. Each apparent body segment has two pairs of millipede legs. Most millipedes are black or brown, but some species are red or orange.

These wasps come in a variety of colors, including black and yellow or black-and-white. Yellow jackets measure 5/8 inch to 1 inch in length and have a slim waist. They are the most aggressive wasps when it comes to protecting their nests.

Silverfish are wingless and have a fish-like appearance. Their body is flat with tapered edges at both ends. They are attracted to damp places, including basements, kitchens, and bathtubs. This tiny insect measures about 1/2 inch in length and is named after the small silver scales it has on its body.

There are over 30,000 types of spiders. Some spiders are smaller than a pin’s head, while others are larger than the human hand. Spiders are not insects and are therefore classified as arachnids. Spiders have eight legs, while ants, bees, and beetles have six. Daddy long legs, scorpions, and mites are all examples of arachnids. Most spiders are either brown, grey, or black. Although a spider does not have bones, its tough skin acts as an outer skeleton.

Springtails are small, usually less than 1/5 inches long, and pale brown to creamy-colored insects. They seem to jump and disappear when disturbed. Springtails are named after the spring-like mechanism that is found on its abdomen. The organ is held in tension by a clasping structure when it is at rest. The insect can jump many times its own length when the mechanism is released.

Ticks are arachnids. Young ticks have six legs while adults have eight. Ticks are parasites that feed on blood and are found in tall grasses and shrubs. They will often wait for a host to pass by so they can attach to them. For ticks, physical contact is their only way of getting around. Although they don’t jump or fly, ticks can still fall from their perch to reach a host. Although they are more active outdoors during warm weather, ticks can attack hosts at any time. Ticks are most common near water, where warm-blooded animals can drink.

Large grayish-brown, carton-like nests are made by hornets. They can be found hanging from trees or branches. As with all wasps, hornets must be treated at night. The problem will not be solved by simply removing the nest. In fact, the surviving wasps can build a new one. It is best to remove the nest at night when all workers and the queen are present.

The mud daubers aren’t social wasps. They can create a wide variety of mud nests including organ-pipe and globular ones. These wasps can paralyze spiders and make mud cells that contain eggs, larvae, pupae, and larvae. The mud cells are either long clay tubes or large lumps. Mud daubers are slim and shiny, black or brown, or yellow or orange, with black.

Central Texas Pest Control Frequently Asked Questions

Pest Control FAQs

HomeAdvisor estimates that a single pest control service will cost between $300 to $550. Because the technician must investigate, diagnose and treat the entire problem at once, this is usually more expensive than regular visits.

There are thousands of chemicals that can be used in residential or commercial buildings. They can come in solid, liquid, or aerosol forms. Keep in mind, however, that certain chemical products can be very hazardous for people and other living organisms.

Pest control companies can exterminate all sorts of pests from your house. The pest control company will assess your house for infestations and create a plan that eliminates them. The exterminator will inspect your home for potential sources such as sewers or garbage.

One crucial question arises when you consider all of the expenses involved in pest control. If you think about the consequences of pest control not being done, there is no answer.

There are many methods of controlling pests. As we have already mentioned, they come in different forms. However, it is possible to loosely group them into six types: Hygienic (Biological), Chemical, Physical, and Fumigation.

Most people ask us how often to control pests in their homes. We recommend quarterly treatments for ants, spiders, and other pests.

It's easy to maintain pest-free homes with simple do-it yourself techniques. Seasonal infestations don't require you to call in every year. Use the same products as last year for this year's treatment.

For regular scheduled pest control we recommend having your home checked once a month or at a minimum twice a year.

You can get rid of them by spraying pesticides around your yard. These sprays work quickly and are very long-lasting (many last 3 months).

Immature and small cockroaches can be found in wall cracks, as well as other tight fitting areas. Cockroaches can get into tiny cracks, measuring just 1/16 in. They also travel well along walls and the edge of walls. You should vacuum all cracks. Vacuuming helps remove skin casts and eggs as well as immature, unattended cockroaches.
